So, you’ve invested in your very own movie room and your friends and family are loving it. A proper home cinema experience whenever you like. Invited guests only and lots of fun kiddie snacks and copious amounts of soda. The only problem is, your once pristine room now looks like it’s been hit by a tornado.
Movie rooms aren’t quite as easy to clean as others in your house. Well, perhaps it’s not so much that they’re a cleaning problem but rather that they need particular care that your other rooms might not on a regular basis.
Step One – Take out All Your Soft Furnishings
Before you get going, take out any soft furnishings you may have in the room and either wash them in the machine if you can or give them a good shake to get rid of all those popcorn crumbs hiding in the creases. Then leave them outside the room until you have completely finished.
Step Two – Polish the Surfaces
Using the recommended polish for the furniture, make sure you remove all ornaments and give those surfaces a good polish. One finished, wipe down the ornaments with a damp cloth and replace them.
Then, if you have leather seating, polish with the appropriate leather cleaner to bring back their gorgeous sheen. It is amazing how dusty things can get, particularly if you have a thick plush carpet.
Step Three – Don’t Neglect the Windows
Clean your windows! This is my most hated domestic chore and I bet it’s yours too. If I were you, find the best product on the market and read the reviews to make sure the product works! Better still, and I’m sure you’ll agree, get someone else to do them.
Step Four – The Equipment Needs Care too
Don’t forget about the equipment. It will probably need special cleaning so, if I were you, and this equipment belongs to your other half, I would probably leave this for them to do. You do not want to be responsible for ruining a few thousand dollars’ worth of kit believe me!
If you are feeling brave and confident though, make sure you read the manufacturer’s advice on how to care for these costly investments. If you are thinking about buying new equipment because you ruined the old stuff, check out this site to get the best advice for 2020 projectors. Then once you’ve bought it, decide who will clean it.
Step Five – Vacuum
Vacuuming comes last. Get your vacuum with the most suction for this task. Move the furniture and you will find once tasty treats hiding under the furniture. Give the whole floor a very good vacuum then put the furniture back in its place. If you have fabric seating, the vacuum can be used on this too.
Step Six – Make Some Basic Housekeeping Rules for Guests
This doesn’t mean being a killjoy but it will make your life easier. Decide on some basic rules for how you would like the room to be used. Everyone is different so these will vary from household to household. Believe me, though, it is worth it because at the end of the day, as satisfying as cleaning can be, you don’t want to do it every time the room is used.
Happy movie viewing for now and let us know your top tips
