Time is essential these days. I often see my clients literally suffering from not having enough time to compare products and pick the best one for the job, not to mention the actual cleaning process. Bissell thought at this when it designed it’s new carpet cleaner. If you are a busy person, fighting against tough stains on your carpet, the new ProHeat 2X Revolution is probably the best thing that could happen to you. Equipped with high-end technology, this amazing unit from Bissell ensures you give your carpets a new lease of life even after being abused by pets and toddlers. Unlike previous models, this unit features an Express cleaning mode that will allow you to save precious minutes. But lets not get too far ahead of ourselves. Now, if you remember, a while ago I was talking about the ProHeat 2x Premiere. This unit is even better. I would say it is comparable with the ProHeat 2X Healthy Home Pet 9200Z, but with a new and neat design, featuring an original orange and black color mix. But design is hardly the first thing to say about this product. Here’s what you’ll find out in just a couple of minutes, after reading this piece:
- why is Bissell 1548 a great addition to anybody’s cleaning arsenal
- what are its main specifications and features

Special Tip
Remember to always vacuum first before using any carpet cleaner, including this one. This is a must! If you don’t go through this process, your deep cleaner will most likely get clogged. If you’re looking for a good vacuum cleaner for tackling pet hair, check out my special list.
Pro reviews
- “I would rate the Bissell 1548 ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Full-Size Carpet Cleaner at ten stars if I could. This machine has changed my life for the better. The unit just ate up age old stains that I thought would be a permanent fixture on my carpet for years. This is something that I found incapable of any other carpet cleaner or carpet treatment that I have ever tried before.”
- It was great to see my daughter’s reaction when she stepped in after school, looked at the carpet, and went, “Wow! Is this new?” and then changed to “Wait a minute, did you get this cleaned?” Then finally, “How on earth did you do this?”
- It’s pretty sad that over time, you get used to your carpet looking like garbage with all the filth left over and the damage dealt to it by your pets. Once the Bissell 1548 got to work, I realized what I had been missing on my whole life.
- … Another thing that amazes me is how easy it is to handle it. It’s just under 18 pounds and it is a joy to work with.
- Without a doubt, I am blown away. I can say goodbye to rental cleaners for good when I have this baby at home.
- Being the owner of a ranch, I always believed that your house would always be dirty to a certain extent. This little machine changed that concept for sure.
Con reviews
- “It hasn’t removed all the spots, some are more stubborn than others…”
- “… the dirt tank is a bit small…”
- “It leaves carpets kinda damp, which is not what i was expecting”

I want to know how easy it is to take apart and clean .the brushes etc and how easy it to get parts to fix if something breaks . I take my cleaner apart and clean after every use so it has to be easy to take apart and clean .also need to be able to get parts that break need to be able to get the brushes I have found the do break .
Jason Roberts says
It’s not really built for complete disassemble-assemble activities. The plastic will wear out fast if you try to take all the unit apart. You can however easily access the nozzle brushroll and by removing the water tanks, you will have around 50%-60% of the unit in pieces.

I would like to know formula for amount of water to amount of cleaning product?
Jason Roberts says
2.5 oz of solution for a gallon of water (full tank).
Lauri says
You mentioned that it left the carpets pretty damp. I live a humid area, would this cause mold or mildew issues?
Jason Roberts says
It could be, yes. The carpets need to dry completely. If you get enough sunlight/warm temperatures, the moisture should evaporate by itself. If not, you may want to consider the Bissell Big Green, which has a better suction.
Pat says
The suction is a must. Allergies…. It can become worst if the water becomes trapped and damp for a period of time. Nervous now to buy. I have a product now and use it monthly. Love my carpet cleaner
Jason Roberts says
Which one do you have at the moment?
Joker says
please tell me how much power the engine of this model in watts?
Jason Roberts says
It uses a 6.8 amp motor. That means it consumes 816 Watts.

Just bought this unit from my local Walmart. It does a amazing job, I am truly impressed. It removed stains I had no luck with before using a rug doctor. If there is one drawback, it does leave the carpet pretty damp. Definitely not something you want to deep clean the day before company comes. I’m hoping that the easy mode will do the trick next time I use it. My carpets looked really bad, now they look almost new again.

I just bought this carpet cleaner have used it 2 times I love the way it cleans my carpet better then my rug doctor.
the problem I am having is it leaves a lot clumps all over my carpet plus a trail of soap. Is this something that happens to everyone or do I need to get a replacement because there is something wrong with the one I have.
Jason Roberts says
Check out the connection between the tank the water pin lock. In a small number of cases, some units need replacement.

hi i live in canada and looking for a new carpet cleaner i just return to costco a hoover model 77 lasted 14 months and died lot of problems.now considering ProHeat 2X® Revolution which in canada 1s 300.00 plus tax or the bissell big green machine which is 550.00 plus tax (tax is about 15 percent here) is it worth to pay double for the big green machinethanks joseph
Jason Roberts says
The Big Green does make a better job, but it depends if you really need it. Think of the Big Green more as a commercial unit, whilst the Revolution is more as a consumer product. If you plan to use the appliance on a weekly basis, it might be more convenient to go with the lighter Revolution, as you won’t be dealing with very old stains.

I bought this unit from Walmart and it is wonderful. I’ve been renting a machine from Home Depot and decided it was time to invest in my own since I have an older dog that is having accidents. It’s so easy to use and does the job. I don’t find the wetness a problem at all. I just turn on the ceiling fan and it’s dry the next day. Note: I use very hot water which may help. I also need to add that I purchased the Bissell antibacterial deep clean cleaner and it is amazing!!! (White bottle) I have tried so many products that just mask the odor and temporarily hide the stains. I have to say, even after months of use, the stains and odor are gone completely! I am thrilled. The scent it leaves behind is a clean scent, not “perfumey”.

Hi
Thanks for the review. I’m considering the machine but having looked at the reviews I’m concerned about the suction comments made by some as it seems carpets are left pretty damp.
Jason, could you possibly elaborate the ‘issue’ a little further for me? How much is this an issue compared to other models/brands? I am not expecting dry carpets afterwards, just want to make sure I buy something that works well!
Thanks!
Jason Roberts says
It’s an issue with a small number of units. Some of them come with a faulty connection between the water tank and the rest. It shouldn’t be a problem if you check it from the beginning. If do you get a unit with problems, you can always take it back for replacement.

I have a large area rug on wood/laminate flooring. Is this unit suitable for this carpet seeing as the comments mention how damp the carpet is following cleaning?
Jason Roberts says
You could try to use it in the Express Clean Mode, if you have a non-porous wood finishing. Test if your floor reacts to water. It should resist at least 2h.
Shirley Cheung says
Is this machine able to clean the stairs?
Jason Roberts says
It depends on the width of your stairs, but it should work, yes. Compare the size of you staircase with the width of the nozzle.
Chris says
It advertises that you can use on bare floors. Can it be used on hardwood? I did not see any of the Bissell hardwood floor cleaners listed as compatible with this unit.
Jason Roberts says
I wouldn’t pick this for hardwood, as it’s mainly made for cleaning carpets.

Love this machine. Sent one back for an exchange this week as would not suck up dirty water. MY ERROR. I attached the nozzle wrong. You have to line up the 3 hooks on the bottom of nozzle,to the bottom of the foot. I attached it wrong, thus no,suction to go into dirty tank.. The water remained in the carpet. Dumb mistake. I do think this is a common mistake as I read some negative reviews about not picking up dirty water. I NOW LOVE THIS MACHINE! Read the manual thoroughly.
Melissa says
Do I have to use the Bissell cleaning solutions with it or can I choose my own?
Jason Roberts says
You don’t have to use Bissell branded solutions.
