Hoover recently launched a new line of cordless cleaning appliances called ONEPWR. The concept behind these cord-free products is that they share the same battery module. We have 9 new appliances to talk about: a hard floor cleaner called Hoover ONEPWR FloorMate Jet, 2 cordless vacuum cleaners called Blade+ and Blade Max, 2 utility vacuums which can accommodate 3 and 6 gallons of debris respectively, a portable carpet and upholstery cleaner called Spotless GO, a handheld vacuum and 2 leaf blowers/sweepers.
Hoover had the openness to this idea since more than 5 years, when they first introduced the cordless Linx, which featured detachable batteries. They understood the market potential and the appealing of owning appliances which eliminate the trouble of handling their power cords. Their new approach is bold and enthusiastic, and I have the feeling many other manufacturers will soon join the cordless trend. Who knows, it may happen that external battery modules will become a standard just like USB charging in the smartphone industry.

Hoover ONEPWR FloorMate Jet Specifications
Cleaning/Suction Power

FloorMate cleaning abilities
It vacuums and mops, so we can only gauge its cleaning power based on those cleaning activities. The ONEPWR FloorMate performs splendidly on various types of sealed surfaces, from tiles and vinyl to hardwoods and laminates. You can even use it on your low pile area rugs. Besides the strong suction, it uses a multi-purpose brush roll to scrub the surfaces that may have stuck dirt and grime. The mopping system uses a strong fan of cleaning solution to dislodge dirt and sprays the liquid ahead of the spinning brush. These cleaning activities, when combined, result in cleaner floors than you wouldn’t get with most vacuum mops on the market, as they lack the suction and agitation components.
Input Power

ONEPWR battery
Hoover offer 4 types of batteries for their ONEPWR line: 2 Ah, 3 Ah, 4 Ah and 6Ah. The biggest is also the most expensive, at around $110. The smallest may be cheaper (I’ve seen it discounted to $50 at some point). All are are lithium-ion type and removable. That means you can purchase additional pieces to extend the run-time of the device. And you need to, because the FloorMate Jet runs for 20 minutes only on a 3 Ah battery. This is when using the Eco mode. The high suction mode sees the run-time reduced to only a few minutes. The short duration of the battery owes to the fact that this device both vacuums and wet mops, plus its suction is pretty high. The battery takes 3.5 hours to charge, which is quick enough for such a powerful battery.
Dust Capacity

2 separate tanks
The ONEPWR FloorMate, being a vacuum mop, has dirty water to suck up. It features twin tanks so the clean and dirty liquids don’t mix, a design that results in cleaner floors. Unlike the single-tank devices that use the same water again and again, this one sprays clean and fresh solution every time you press the trigger.
Although the Hoover ONEPWR FloorMate can vacuum, the manufacturer specifically states that it doesn’t replace a regular vacuum. Instead, you’re advised to limit its use to mopping hard floors and refreshing area rugs. That said, the device comes with two tanks, one for the cleaning solution and another for the vacuumed dirty water. The dirty water tank, and which is equivalent to the dirt bin in a conventional vacuum, features an 11-ounce capacity. This tank also houses the dry filter. The cleaning solution tank holds 22 oz of liquid. Levels for the different cleaning requirements are indicated on the tank to help you fill it to the appropriate quantity.
Filtration Efficiency

Hoover FloorMate maintenance – brushroll and filter
It comes equipped with a standard filter. Because the device is not intended for conventional vacuuming, the filter is not HEPA. It’s a washable one and the manufacturer recommends regular cleaning to maintain its efficiency and the overall performance. If the filter gets clogged, this vacuum mop will not suction up debris and dirty water effectively, which can make cleaning messy. Hoover advises that you wash the filter in warm water mixed with mild detergent, then leave it to dry for not less than 24 hours.
Weight and Dimensions

FloorMate ONEPWR dimensions
The device weighs 10.4 lbs. and measures 11.4 by 9.8 by 44.9 inches. With the low weight, you shouldn’t have trouble carrying it upstairs or from one room to another. You will also find it easy to push and pull during cleaning activities.
Warranty
The Hoover ONEPWR FloorMate comes with a 2-year limited warranty. This guarantee only applies to the original owner, and you need to register the device when you purchase it. The batteries have a 3-year warranty, which is interesting because usually batteries have a lower protection time-span than the product itself. Also, a 3-year warranty for a battery is humongous.
Accessories

Inside the box of FloorMate ONEPWR
The manufacturer provides these accessories with the ONEPWR FloorMate vacuum mop: a multi-purpose brush for all types of floors, gentle brush roll for sensitive flooring, one 3.0 Ah battery, a charger, a storage and cleaning tray, a measuring cup, an 8-oz cleaning solution and a user manual.
Special Features
The Hoover ONEPWR FloorMate is a versatile vacuum mop that cleans a variety of floors, even the sensitive ones. It’s also easy to operate, with features incorporated to help you clean your home easily. The features that enable are:
Two Different Brush Rolls

Multipurpose brush with rows of nylon bristles
This new vacuum mop comes with two brushes: a multipurpose brush and a gentle one. The gentle brush roll is made of microfiber material to be safe on sensitive floors such as hardwood and vinyl. Apart from using it on such floors, the device is suitable if your home is low-traffic and there aren’t stubborn stains to clean. The multipurpose brush consists of microfiber material and rows of nylon bristles. The bristles help to scrub stuck-on dirt so you can achieve sparkling clean floors for all types of messes. With the two brush rolls, the ONEPWR FloorMate mops is more versatile and better prepared than previous versions of FloorMate.
Powerful Jet Spray

Sprays while it cleans
To loosen up dirt, it directs a strong fan of cleaning solution to the floor ahead of the brush roll. The jets of liquid loosen up dirt before the spinning bristles of the multipurpose brush scrub it off and the suction system lifts it off. The device vacuums both ways, which enables it to dry the mopped surfaces faster. During the forward movement, it suctions up dirt and liquid while on the backward movement it removes the remaining liquid to aid faster drying.
The solution spray nozzle is controlled by a trigger. That allows you to only release the cleaning liquid when necessary. You also get to spray more of it in the areas that you notice to have stuck dirt or grime. That way, the ONEPWR FloorMate offers more control over the cleaning activities. Besides that, you can control the suction from the user-facing dashboard to increase suction in the areas with a lot of dirt to be cleaned.
Twin Tanks

Front and back tanks
It has separate tanks for the clean and dirty water. That means the device only mops using fresh cleaning solution. These tanks are conveniently placed on the unit with the clean water tank located on the back and the dirty water tank the front. This design means the water in the two tanks never mixes. The clean water tank is larger, double the size of the other one, as in the cleaning process, some of the liquid gets lost (evaporates, spills away).
Rinse and Storage Tray

Easy storing with its special tray
The Hoover ONEPWR FloorMate will clean messes but will not create one itself. It comes with a storage and cleaning tray where you can clean the unit and keep it until the next cleaning task. When you’ve finished using the device, you need to place it on this tray so it doesn’t drip water on the floors.
Swiveling and Low-Lying Cleaning Head
One of the attributes of this mopping vacuum is its maneuverability. With a swivel cleaning head, it moves in different directions with ease which enables you to guide it around furniture and other obstacles. The cleaning head is also low enough to allow it to get underneath things to clean the furthest of places.
Headlights

LED lights
If you have poorly lit areas in your home, you need not worry. The Hoover ONEPWR FloorMate features two lights on both sides of the cleaning head. These will illuminate the path ahead so you can see the areas that need more passes or extra cleaning solution.
Thermal Protection
With its powerful motor and battery, it’s likely that this device will overheat. That can happen when you have been using it for extended hours, especially using the high suction mode. If that happens, it shuts down on its own. It’s equipped with a circuit to protect it from damage as well as to make it safe to use.
Usability
When you first take the Hoover ONEPWR FloorMate out of the box, what amazes you is the few pieces to put together. The lack of accessories, too. But this is to be expected since the device is a mop and only cleans floors. Besides, it means easier use. Setting up the unit takes little time. Within a few minutes, the device is ready to use. It’s a cordless vacuum which means you have to ensure the battery is charged before you can start cleaning.
The ONEPWR FloorMate features a transparent body and you can see its cleaning action. It features an easy-to-remove cover that lets you switch the brushes quickly to match the cleaning requirement. Once you have installed the right brush, you only need to switch the device on and start cleaning. The power button is located on the handle. Just above the power button is the mode switching button, and further up the LED dashboard that indicates the mode in operation.
The Hoover ONEPWR FloorMate offers you two cleaning modes: Eco and High. Using the Eco mode allows you more cleaning time but less suction. The High mode makes the device suck up everything in its path, but drains the battery pretty fast. If your home is high traffic and likely to have messes, I would advise you to obtain an additional battery or two. The Hoover ONEPWR FloorMate is easy to guide around, with its swivel base and lightweight construction. The handle is ergonomic and you can hold it for extended hours without numbing your hands.
This vacuum mop is easy to maintain. The dry filter is the washable type and you only need to ensure it’s cleaned regularly using warm water and some mild detergent. To clean the device, you use the storage tray it comes with. The manufacturer advises you to do that after every mopping task. And it’s a simple enough activity. You only place the device on the tray, put in some clean water then and engage the High mode for about 10-15 seconds. To allow the brush roll to dry, the ONEPWR FloorMate comes with a rack for its storage.
Hoover ONEPWR FloorMate Pros and Cons
Here is a summary of the things you will like about this vacuuming mop and those you may not like.
Pros
- Powerful suction that picks up stuck-on dirt
- The strong jet spray of the cleaning solution that loosens up stubborn stains
- Comes with two different brushes which allow it to clean even the sensitive floors such as hardwood
- The two-tank design which ensures the device cleans with fresh liquid only
- Cleans both dry and wet messes
- Features an LED dashboard
Cons
- The device sounds too loud for a cordless cleaner due to its powerful suction
- The 20-minute runtime is too low and you need an additional battery to clean large areas
A Comparison of the Hoover ONEPWR FloorMate and earlier models
This new vacuum mop model is different from the earlier models in many ways, from the design to the cleaning power. The new device comes with two brush rolls that can be interchanged to match the kind of floor being cleaned. There’s the gentle microfiber brush and the more aggressive nylon-bristled brush. This is in contrast to the earlier Hoover FloorMates that had small counter rotating brushes on the underside of the cleaning head. These were in, in many ways, not as effective as the current one. The brush roll on the Hoover ONEPWR FloorMate looks and functions like the type used in a conventional vacuum. Combined with the powerful suction, the new Hoover FloorMate offers better cleaning. This is in may ways very similar to Bissell Crosswave:
Hoover ONEPRW FloorMate Jet | BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro | |
---|---|---|
Weight | 10.4 lbs | 11 lbs |
Power cord | Cordless | 25 ft. |
Fresh water tank size | 22 oz | 28 |
Dirty water tank size | 11 oz | 14.5 oz |
Cleaning path | 11.4" | 12" |

Controls | On-handle buttons with LED | On-handle buttons with LED |
Noise level | 72 dB | 68 dB |
Warranty | 3 years | 3 years |
Price | Price not available | $269.99 |
There’s also the difference in the application of cleaning solution. The new Hoover Floormate uses a jet spray nozzle that directly sends liquid to the area in front of the device. Another difference can be seen in the design of the water tanks. In the older models, the water tanks are paced on the sides. The Hoover ONEPWR FloorMate has the tanks on the front and back. The device’s body, therefore, looks thinner, plus you can monitor the solution as you clean.
Hoover ONEPWR Blade+ Stick

Hoover ONEPWR Blade+ stick
Hoover brings to the cordless market another masterpiece from the ONEPWR family. The Blade+ and Blade Max models are very similar to the sticks produced by Dyson or Shark. However, they are much cheaper and more flexible, having interchangeable batteries which can be used to power up other devices.
