I’ve just returned from my winter trip, and I’m already eager to tell you a story on another great vacuum cleaner producer, very popular in US. Rainbow company is a division of Vertext Worldwide Inc. (also known as Rexair), a company which has rocked the vacuum cleaner industry since 1920s. Starting low back then, they have risen to their position due to their commitment to excellent customer service. Different from other door-to-door dealers of vacuum cleaners, they are not business-based but rather a company that has focused on the kind of training and expertise needed for their employees to deliver excellent customer services.
Based on the attractive designs, their products actually sell themselves because they feature a unique blend of engineering and creativity. The secret to its success lies in “word of mouth” and returning customers, which connotes that they are happy with the kind of service that they receive. It is not so long ago that they ventured into this industry but over this duration, they have become one of the largest parts and service companies across the globe (in the field of vacuum cleaners, of course).
Rainbow’s expertise is built on technicians who get trained every month on all aspects of the Rainbow models, including those that date back to the 1950’s. Keeping in touch with updates and factory bulletins, the company has ensured that every little repair they do on the main system and parts as small as the nozzle utilizes the latest technology to give the customer an extraordinary cleaning experience.
Bagless Canister Vacuum Systems
Rainbow is a one-stop shop if you need a bagless canister vacuum cleaners. The latest Rainbow Cleaning system is based on water filtration, as well as all previous models. Right from new to refurbished units, you will obviously find a system that fits your specifications. Their bagless canister vacs include floor cleaners and specialty tools that are designed to reach hidden areas.
Rainbow vacuum repair and service
This company not only sells Rainbows but also repairs broken customer systems. They repair every model including those dating back to 1936. Or, if you already have the technical expertise to do the repairs yourself, the company will supply you with new and refurbished replacement parts. However, I’d recommend you to leave the job for specialists. One of the reasons why you should settle for Rainbow System’s repair service is because they offer pick up services either from your home or office. There is also free delivery, and all you need to do is contact the company and have your system picked and repaired. Under this category, you will also enjoy the 2 following benefits:
- the use of genuine rainbow parts when servicing
- a three-year warranty on all parts and servicing
Supplies
This is one of the companies that have made the tackling of foul smell and tough odors an easy venture. With their AquaMate shampoo, all the stubborn spots on your carpet will be ABC easy to clear. They have also developed the Rexafoamer shampoo, which is specifically meant to clear stains from your furniture.
Are you troubled with lingering odors? The solution lies in the Fresh Air Concentrate produced by this company, one that allows you to enjoy the fragrance in your home after a series of troubled days. It neutralizes the odors by dispensing little amounts at a time into your water pan. Besides being a pioneer in the world of water filtration vacuums, Rainbow has also grown bit by bit into a leading supplies company.
A similar supply is the Clean Floor concentrate, a perfect solution for cleaning floors efficiently without a trace of messes being left behind.
Fragrance pack
The company not only supplies you with upbeat Rainbow vacuums but also gives you a chance to choose from a range of fragrances, which exist in convenient multi-packs. Their fragrances include vanilla, apple blossom, pine and orange. If you are new to the world of fragrances on the other hand, they have an assorted pack which lets you try out different fragrances before you settle on the most ideal. If you prefer the exotic ones on the other hand, Rainbow will treat you with luxury collections such as Mandarin Rosewood, Lavender Juniper, Orange Ginger and Tea Tree Mint.
Manuals
If you own or even plan to own a Rainbow vacuum system, an owner’s manual is one of the most handy resources that you will ever need. It is rich in basic information regarding the use of the cleaning systems, troubleshooting tips and guidelines on how to clean and maintain the system for it to run properly. Rainbow understands that manuals could get dirty, misplaced, or worn out. In light of this, they offer digital copies for free.
Rainbow vacuum cleaner units
Right from affordable units which carry all the frills to replacement systems, Rainbow understands the needs of their customers. They are dealers in various main units, which are perfect in handling the basic cleaning needs, with the capability of serving as dedicated vacuums in some of the high-traffic sections (such as garages).
Of significant interest perhaps is the newest model from this company, identified as Rainbow E-2 Black Series. Here is what you need to know concerning the latest model:
Rainbow E2 Black Series
This is the newest model on the market, carrying an abnormal 8-year warranty on the motor, 4 years on all the other parts and a lifetime labor warranty. Whenever something goes wrong with this system, therefore, you only need to call the specialists and it will be fixed at once.
This unit is a comprehensive system which comes with a myriad of features including:
- a cushion bag
- a coil cleaner
- an electrified wand
- an upholstery tool
- a dusting brush
- a floor tool
- a classic crevice tool
- a water pan
- an electric hose and handle measuring 8 feet
- a PN-12 power nozzle
With a 1.542 high speed horsepower, you will definitely have it easy in cleaning any type of surface. Together with the water pan and candy, the unit weighs 19 pounds, which is a little bit bulky, but convenient for most of us to carry around and handle the cleaning chores. Its functionality is enhanced by the 3-microns filtration system, which ensures that you enjoy clean air besides protecting your loved ones from bacteria and allergens. On top of that, it has been certified by the Allergy and Asthma foundation of America, making it safe for human use (who else other than humans might use it ??). Coming with a new feature on the power nozzle coupled with the corner brush, the system simply sweeps all the loose debris along the wall into the power nozzle’s path. Try a cleaning exercise with the usual vacuum cleaners and you will be amazed by the amount of sand that it collects from your carpets the moment you use this upbeat unit. Last but not least, I’m pretty sure many of you think this vacuum is way out of reach (financially speaking). But check out this great discount I’ve found, before taking definitive conclusions.
Last words
In summary, Rainbow has gone out of the profit world to deliver upbeat systems which make the ordinary vacuum cleaners look like junk. With their unusual warranty and free servicing, you will obviously have a wonderful time and relation with a company that has the interests of customers at heart. I would really appreciate some comments on Rainbow company from you guys.

I own one in my home and it began helping my daughter the first night (seeing as it can double as an air purifier for the whole house). My husband and I both love it! It’s worth it to us to help our daughter and reduce seasonal allergy issues for all of us.

Rainbow are a load of trash do not buy a $40.00 Walmart vacuume works just as good if not better.
Jason Roberts says
Hi Richard. Do you have some story you would like to share with us, to back your statements?
really? says
Well he can not spell so ……
James H. Pitts says
Cannot is one word, so . . . . And you cannot use 5 ellipses.
Mr Richard dumbass says
Richard, rainbow vacuum cleaners are easily the best vacuum known to man and if you can honestly say the a $40 vacuum from walmart can do just as good that proves that you are just simply an *censored*! Take a 1 foot by 1 foot space on your carpet go over it with you $40 dollars wasted on a vacuum from Walmart that’s going to clog up and break down in a couple months then I’ll go over it with my new $2400 one and I’ll pick up 10 times the dirt, hair, mico particles that the eye can’t see and sand particles AFTER you went over yours with your piece of crap! Obviously you have never had one demonstrated properly or you would not have made the close minded statement you made! Please do your research and very in depth research before making *censored* comments online that just make yourself look like a complete *censored*! Thanks
Jason Roberts says
Sorry mate, I had to censor some parts of your comment. While I don’t think price has a direct relationship with the quality of the product, I would love to hear more arguments and less propaganda.

I live in Hawaii and resently purchased our first rainbow vacuum . My children and I have severe allergies and my son has asthma.
Since using this product we immediately notice a difference . I though my home was clean until I vacuumed with the rainbow . I’m truly happy with this product and would recommend it to families who struggle with allergies . I’ve had Hoover vacuums and even a Kirby and can say this product by far is amazing .
Howard says
Rainbow is the best machine I have ever purchased. This machine works exactly as described. I have had the rainbow for 3 years now and have never had a problem with it. It is very easy to use and has helped my whole family out with their allergies as well. It is the only machine that cleans the way it is supposed to. I have even had neighbors ask to borrow it. But in return they decided to purchase it also!

I had one about 13 years ago in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia by Adawliah Company. The best I had ever. In 2012 The agency caller set appointment to demonstrate for new Rain Bow Vacuum cleaner, The guy came and tried to sell me new one. He he was very very rude when I told him I do not need to buy. I called the customer service manager for that seller, unfortunately, his reply was not satisfied. I decided not to buy or even think about Rain Bow Vacuum cleaner again cause of that guy. Sorry not all employees are trained well.
Steve says
It’s kind of hard to believe a review that fails to mention any shortcomings. It would be easy to believe that you were being compensated for this.
Jason Roberts says
Steve, as you can see, I’m not really reviewing anything here, except the company Rainbow. All my reviews have a ratings in on a 1 to 5 scale (those little stars) and a VGM (a mark from 1 to 100), but this is just a company presentation. As for the compensation, I wish I would, but unfortunately, I’m not. If you’re referring to the E2 series, I didn’t mention any negative points because I am not reviewing it, I’m just mentioning some key points. Of course there are some shortcomings to this particular vacuum cleaner: it’s a heavy unit, it’s a bit loud, it’s tough to maneuver in corners/on stairs, and the price is huge.
rachel says
My rainbow is amazing and really helps with keeping the air in my house clean. Yeah the price is high but considering how the normal house hold goes through a new vacuum every 3-5 years, that adds up not even including the filters, bags, etc. And have you seen what comes out of a vacuum? Gross!! Btw they do monthly payments which are very reasonable.. The rainbow is worth the money and your family’s health is too so keep that in mind.
Bruno says
I am allergic to dust and dog hair, my parents bought one about 20 years ago, when i was a child, to help me with that problem and it lasted until two years ago when the motor broke down. We all loved that vacuum
Concerned Customer says
It was stated that there is a lifetime labor warranty which is not correct. When an item is took in to an authorized repair center even within the warranty time the labor will be charged. As for the closing statement it sounds like rainbow is not making much of a profit on each sale of the item. I can attest that that is not the case. The E2 model is $3200+ depending on the area the customer is residing. Without getting into the wholesale price there is quite a bit of markup and that is not including the markup from the factory itself before it is sold to the distributor. I am just stating facts.
Jason Roberts says
Thanks for the input. As for the closing statement, I was speaking metaphorically.
Tracey says
I bought my Rainbow in November of 2014 and it is broken, or NOT working as of this month. It was a good product, but if you actually use it to clean as you should with pets, twice a week for a year and a half the product stops working… At least this is the case for me. I would not recommend buying a Rainbow if you have pets and clean as often as I do.. For what you PAY for this machine it should last over 2 years as I am not even done paying for it…
Jason Roberts says
Tracey, you are absolutely right. But I think your product is still under warranty. Have you tried returning it?
RJ says
Is the Rainbow Black E2 the NEWEST model offered by Rexair? I see Blue/Platinum and Gold models offered on internet.
Can you offer any clarity regarding all the models I’m seeing?
Jason Roberts says
The Silver and the Gold models are older. The Gold model appeared around 2005, and the Silver model appeared around 2007. The Black model appeared in 2011 and is at the moment the latest unit from Rexair.
RJ says
Jason – thanks for your earlier comment. Just to be clear – the Rainbow Black E2 is the newest Rainbow on the market?
Second question – in your opinion, is it the best Rainbow model to buy?
Jason Roberts says
First question: yes, from what I know of. Second question: since it’s the latest and since you’re stuck on Rainbow, it’s the best. There’s a lengthy time-frame between models, so the unit before the Black E2 got pretty old.
RJ says
OK, Jason – I’ll bite. You obviously think there’s a better vac than the Rainbow. In the same price range, what do you think is superior?
Jason Roberts says
It’s difficult to say, because the price range we’re talking about is pretty high, if not the highest. Practically, you’re asking what is the best vacuum cleaner, if money wasn’t an issue (which is also difficult to choose, as different jobs require different tools). To be fair, the main thing I don’t like about Rainbow is the idea of water filtration, which sits at the core of their products. Just to be clear, I don’t deny the efficiency of the process. I simply don’t like having a vacuum cleaner which contains water, and this is only a personal opinion. Dealing with water comes with additional costs, such as more weight, loss of maneuverability, high maintenance and lengthier cleaning processes. Thus I prefer a Miele C3 canister or a Sebo D4.
RJ says
Thanks, Jason. I certainly defer to your knowledge on all things related to vacuums. I appreciate the time you’ve taken to provide this guide. I can understand your position regarding cost of Rainbow, as well as aversion to it’s water usage. For what they’re worth, my final thoughts:
My introduction to Rainbows occurred when I borrowed one from a neighbor a few weeks ago – our Miele upright was in need of maintenance and wasn’t working. The Rainbow I borrowed was at least 15 years old and up until that time, I had absolutely no knowledge that such a thing even existed.
My entire family was AMAZED by the dirt and dog hair pulled out of our carpets buy the Rainbow, including rooms that had been cleaned and vacuumed by our cleaning crew just two days before. Yes – emptying the water is a pain, but a price worth paying, in my opinion, for all the gunk it removed from my carpets. I also have to agree with you on the price – $2,500+ for a vacuum is extreme, even if someone can afford it. However, the internet is a wonderful thing – a quick search on eBay will locate dozens of used, refurbished, and in some cases, new Rainbows at a very steep discount – 1/2 off or more.
I can say from experience that my Miele upright isn’t in the same league as the Rainbow when it comes to cleaning carpets in our home.
Marc says
Rainbow E Series I have for ten years, now almost entirely lost strength (sucking power). Hardly vacuums. Hepa filter has not been changed since it was purchased (only washed with water). I know that i need to replace the HEPA filter. But anything else? I have it apart and there is no visible defect except dust.
Jason Roberts says
Besides the filter, you may need to replace the motor’s brushes.
Parry Diskul says
Hi! I live in Bangkok Thailand and I have been using the Rainbow for 10 year this year.
It has recently broke down and the mechanics told me that it need a new motor which cost $600 !!
This is e series, and I wonder if I can get it over from the US, would it be cheaper? My friend is coming over next month so he can bring it with him.
Jason Roberts says
You could definitely ask him to get a refurbished unit from Ebay. You can find some as low as $400.
Bill Derksen says
We just turned down the opportunity to buy one, due to the high cost, and because we do own a Miele. We have been trying the free gift – the Rainmate. This was touted as an air cleaner. However, after continuos run for 20 hours, the water was still crystal clear. We are puzzled. Any comments?
Jason Roberts says
I’m not really familiar with this air purifier. Could it be you have a very clean air?
Johnny D says
We got talked into a sales demonstration. Darn near had a heart attack when I was finally told the sales price, with all the adapters we wanted, was North of three thousand dollars!!!
But…this machine is amazing and versatile. Cleaning the mattress alone should make most seriously consider owning this product. We gave lots of white tile on the first floor of our home and it has never looked so good so quickly.
We too saw/smelled immediate air quality improvement. I have alergies…and a cat…the amazing feeling of “clean” I now experience has helped me accept the purchase price.
Only three things bother me about the machine. It is still not as quiet as I would like it to be. Anywhere in the house, while it runs cleaning the air, still has a high enough pitch to be slightly bothersome to me. Secondly…it needs a retractable power cord. It comes with a nice long power cord and the machine only has low budget “horns” to wrap and store the cord on the body of the machine. For three grand there is no excuse not to have a retractable cord like other high end vacuum cleaners which cost thousands less. Last…they should offer a better, more convenient way to store all of the attachments. Having several of the small ones hanging off the body of the machine, especially if I am leaving it out in areas where guests may see it, is not an option. Again, someone was not thinking things through completely when designing the finished product and how it will be seen and used in a home 24/7.
If you can afford it, or use their handy payment plan, buy it. But even though it works very well…it is still a little ebarassingfor me to admit to friends how much we paid.
To be clear, the machine works very well and you will see immediate results after using it.
Jason Roberts says
Thank you very much for your input Johnny.

The one we use was originally purchased by my mother in 1985 – 31 years and still going. We have had it serviced twice for a bearing replacement ~ $100. We love this vacuum as we have two cats and lots of cat hair. The water filtration system is awesome for preventing the recycling of dust/hair as it is trapped in the water basin. We also have the paint sprayer attachment, steam cleaner system, etc., but have never used them so could not recommend those items. For people with allergies, they are the best vacuum.
Garry Williams says
We’ve owned our Rainbow vacuum for almost 2 years now and haven’t had any problems. I have never seen a vacuum that pulls out the dirt like the Rainbow does. When demonstrated to us we couldn’t believe how much more dirt came out of our carpets. When the bottom of the tank had sandy dirt in it we were just amazed. I have to believe that our carpets are cleaner than they have ever been. The annoying thing is having to clean out the water tank. There’s no way I’m going to dump this down my toilet into my plumbing pipes and then you can’t get all of the hair and dirt out of the tank easily. I agree with other reviews about the price being a bit high, but after seeing how much dirt comes out of your carpet and bedding you have to be impressed. The air freshener is just another nice part of owning this machine.
kelly says
yes, all vacuums are a pain to clean and dispose of the contaminants that they capture. With most bagged units, its dusty nasty smelly affair. With Rainbows water capture, all it requires is dumping the water basin ( I do it outside the house) and then rinse in the sink. So , after owning this model since 2012, I wouldn’t say its nasty, to each their own, but the plus side is SO good…..no bags to buy, no stink from junk in the bags , you get a visual relief of what is NOT now in your home, and they last! I have a d4 unit from the mid 1990’s….still works great!

I have just purchased my 5th Rainbow vacuum. I have used these vacuums for 43 years. Since I have 2 labradors that
are always shedding, I bought a back up Dyson for everyday use. Whoever said Dyson does not loose suction was lying,
this vacuum is horrible. For fun, I used my Dyson, then my Rainbow, and the Rainbow still picked up more hair and dirt. I
feel really good dumping out the water from the Rainbow knowing that there will be no blowback of dust, like other
machines.Yes, the Rainbow is expensive, but worth every penny. There is a deoderizer that you can put in the water to
freshen up your house. I love this machine.
jesika says
I bought the rainbow vacuum. Unfortunately the company did not mention that the $2900 vacuum would end up being $4000. The company took out a loan for $4000 that I did not consent to. I was told one price and ended up finding out that the amount they took out was $4000. That is ridiculous. I could have just gotten it online for less than $1000.

HI: I just ran my Rainbow E series with Power Nozzle which my wife (late) and I purchased in 2008. It cost us 1998. + 161.84 taxes. (after trade in) it had not been run for several years since she was very proprietary about it and didn’t want me to touch it. She was afraid i would mishandle it, store it without adequate cleaning, attempt to pick up junk, etc. As she got frailer, it was too much for her to handle.
In running it today i was surprised at how much mud it picked up off the carpet of a small house. More on what i had been using later. I also ran it for an hour with just water in the tank and it did make the air smell fresher. An interesting aside. I use a BRITA water purifier container. I find two fills is just right for filling the tank and the water is decalcified. The water storage caution raises a convenience problem if i want to run it every day to purify the air. Other than empty and refill every day, I suppose i could just remove the power unit and set it aside till ready for use. But then it is inconvenient to store out of sight as a unit.
We had two earlier models which they allowed a ($399.00) trade in. One was the earlier model which wasn’t as powerful and had the motor replaced once ($400.00). One big caution on these units is to NEVER STORE IT WITH WATER IN THE TANK. In fact I’m not sure it should be stored with the empty tank in place. Though that is how i found it when i unpacked (we were thinking of selling) it.
Water vapor gets into the motor bearing and causes it to freeze up. That’s possibly what killed the earlier model. It’s probably its main weakness.
The other machine was small and black and resembled R2D2 of Starwars fame. I got it at a garage sale for $40.00 in the 1960s. Main problem with it was the hose to body gasket and it was very small. Sorry we never hung onto it; it’s probably a classic. Her previous favorite was a Lewitt cahister which i still have. Hard to find bags for it.
A few years ago i bought a Hoover WindTunnel vacuum cleaner; clearly lighter and seemed to work OK until i saw today’s results. Like most current vacuum cleaners made largely of plastic it collected more dust on the outside than ever got it the bag, IMHO. It was noisier than the Rainbow and though bag disposal was easy I felt it left the house feeling hot and dusty.
I’m very impressed and hope i can take good care of it. I’ll probably run it every couple weeks or so or maybe more often to clean the air. No pets in the house at present.

I have had my Rainbow for 27 years until Hurricane Harvey hit and flooded my house to the roof! My mother bought hers I think in the 1970’s and it still works. Great product, hope I will be able to replace mine.
Kathy M says
I clean houses for realtors and property management companies. The Rainbow is the ONLY vacuum that I find can suck up construction dust without clogging filters and eventually killing the vacuum. I wouldn’t use anything else. My unit is 12 years old and still going strong – hasn’t needed any repairs at all in 12 years! Totally recommend for anyone that professionally cleans.
