The X20 is Roidmi’s latest cordless vacuum. Also called Roidmi NEX Storm in its very own Indiegogo campaign where it managed to raise over $500,000, the new model excels on many fronts, making it one of the best from the company. Roidmi is Xiaomi’s home appliances division which focuses on lightweight vacuums. For some time now, they have been producing quality cordless stick vacuums and offering something new with every model. The X20 is no exception. From cleaning efficiency and usability to storage and price, you will find the vacuum worth considering for the many unique and useful features. To find out what these features are, join me in this Roidmi X20 review, as I describe the vacuum in detail, covering its abilities as well as shortcomings.

Specifications & Features
Suction/Cleaning Power
According to the manufacturer, the Roidmi X20 attains 145 AW suction at its maximum, while producing 25 kPa of air pressure, enough to cause embedded debris to fly into the suction inlet. This happens thanks to a robust brushless motor that spins at 120,000 rpm. With this amount of vacuuming power, the vacuum suits the cleaning requirements of a typical home where floors are hard, with occasional carpets. Please note I done all the tests in my review on the minimum setting, which I found to be satisfying enough not to bother with the other two more powerful levels.

Brushroll Design – a mix between rubber and bristles
The cleaning power is enhanced by the electric brush roll, which spins fast enough to agitate things around (some times actually, it spins too fast, as you can see in my video review – go to the moment I try to vacuum rice from a low-pile carpet):

Electric Brushroll with a transparent hood
Input Power
Rated 435 watts, the vacuum uses a 29.6V, 8-cell, 2500 mAh Li-Ion battery. Despite its high capacity, the battery charges for 2½ hours and powers the vacuum for around 65 minutes (on the lowest setting). It drops to 35 minutes when used in Moderate mode and to 12 minutes when using the highest setting.

Battery and motor housed together in the same part
The wall-mounted charging base of the X20 is both intriguing and convenient. The vacuum attaches to it magnetically and is using wireless charging to spare you of any connectivity problem. Roidmi designed the battery to be easy to remove. When you have to change the old one, you only have a few screws to unfasten.
Dust Capacity
The dustbin holds 13.5 oz (0.4 liters). Considering that the X20 offers high cleaning power that picks a lot of dirt, I would have expected the bin to be a little bit larger. It would make cleaning a large and high-traffic home more convenient. However, the vacuum comes with an alert function for a full bin, plus emptying it takes no time. Pressing a button helps you detach the dust cup in an instant. Again, I would have preferred the container to empty more conveniently by opening the lid on end, but most likely, the development team chose this solution due to design considerations.

Filtration Efficiency
NEX uses a 6-stage cyclone separation system, and among the most elaborate you can find in a vacuum cleaner. The filtration system consists of an outer metal mesh to catch larger debris, a dust separation chamber, and several filters that include sponge and HEPA. With HEPA filtration, the Roidmi X20 is safe enough for users who are prone to allergies.

Filtration system
As you see, Roidmi X20 features several layers of filtration. From left to right, they are:
- The metal mesh to remove large materials
- The dust separator
- The replaceable HEPA
- A sponge
- A dust filter
- The rear filter
The filtration system is so efficient that, according to the manufacturer, it retains as much as 99.99% of the allergens picked up by the vacuum. The manufacturer’s claims aside, cyclonic systems are known to be highly effective when mixed with HEPA filters.

Weight and Dimensions
The unit, when assembled, measures 47.88 × 10 × 6.22 inches and weighs 5.7 pounds. It’s a cleaning device that’s both small-size and lightweight. With these dimensions, you do not need to worry about where to store the vacuum. During cleaning, it will go into narrow places with ease, making your tasks more thorough. The low weight means most members of your family can use it. They will find it less tiring to hold for extended periods and easy to carry around when vacuuming different places. The only inconvenient I could mention here is the weight distribution (I’d have preferred the center of mass to be closer to the handle).

Special Features
The Roidmi X20 is a unique vacuum in many ways, with an array of features to improve a user’s cleaning experience. Some of these features enhance cleaning power, other, filtration, and other, usability. They include:
Strong Suction
At 145 AW maximum suction, the vacuum is among the most potent cordless sticks on the market. The vacuum owes its high suction power to several technologies. Its motor is brushless and spins at an incredible 120,000 rpm. The suction blades are uniquely designed, a construction that sees the vacuum create a strong airflow and 25 kPa of vacuum pressure. With the cyclone dust separation system used by the vacuum, suction remains high throughout the entire cleaning session. That means you have a vacuum you can rely on at all times. It will clean carpets, hard floors, and various other surfaces with an impressive level of efficiency.
Mopping Pad
The Roidmi X20 doesn’t only vacuum. It also mops. Among the attachments that come with this new model is a mopping pad. After you’re through with vacuuming, you only need to attach the pad to the floor nozzle and turn the device into a mopping vacuum. The pad comes with a piece of microfiber cloth “velcroed” to it, and a water tank to mount on the floor head. Water then flows by gravity onto the fabric, allowing you to wet-mop the vacuumed surfaces.

Mop pad
The water tank’s capacity is 5 oz (160 ml), which is enough to mop only a large room without having to refill it. The unique thing about the tank and the mop pad is the way they attach to the vacuum. They do so using magnetic forces. You only need to bring each attachment close to the mounting surface, and the inbuilt magnetism causes the two surfaces to stick together.
Two Different Brush Rolls
Most vacuums use an on/off switch to allow users to clean multiple types of floor. But this feature presents one problem. Switching the brush roll off causes the vacuum to be less effective. Without a spinning brush to agitate stuck-on dirt, you may need several passes to clean some spots. The Roidmi X20 comes with two different brushes to overcome the problem, one for carpets and another for hard floors. You only need to swap them when you have to clean different areas. The manufacturer made the process of changing the brushes easy. You only need to press a button on the side of the nozzle.

Two brush rolls
Handheld Version
You can use it as a handheld vacuum for more cleaning options. It converts in an instant, which means you can make it more portable at any time, even when cleaning the floors. The X20 comes with various attachments to use when using it as a handheld. It means you’ll be cleaning faster and better.

Here’s how the electric mattress brush looks like:

Mattress brush
Floor Nozzle with Smart LED
Its main floor nozzle features LED lights. However, these are not the usual LEDs. These switch on when the amount of light is low, such as when you push the nozzle under furniture. This means the LEDs are energy-efficient and will only light up when necessary. Away from the smart function, the presence of headlights on this vacuum means you can clean any part of the floors in your home.

App Integration
The app is meant to improve the cleaning experience of users, and it does so perfectly. The vacuum comes with a Bluetooth function through which it links to your phone and sends reports. The reports include battery status, available cleaning time, and temperature. You can even get alerts to empty the dustbin or warnings that the HEPA filter needs to be changed. Being a cordless vacuum that must be guided around by the user, the app may not offer much. However, it allows you to keep an eye on the vacuum’s condition.
Here are the main steps to connect to the app:
1. Download, install and open the Roidmi Vacuum app. It should look like this when you open it:

2. Select add a device. The Bluetooth connection works even if the vacuum is turned off, which is quite incredible!

Select ‘Add a device’
3. The vacuum is immediately recognized, and you’re all set to navigate through the different sections of the app. E.g., you can select the suction power or see how much you’ve vacuumed so far, what’s the battery state and the standby time.

Magnetic Attachment and Wireless Charging
The X20 uses a unique way to charge its battery. It attaches to the wall-mounted storage/ charging base using magnetism, making it a grab-and-go device. What’s impressive is that the battery charges wirelessly, and you do not need to plug it into anything. These two technologies make the vacuum one of the most convenient to use.

Magnetic wall mount
Replaceable Battery
When you finally have to replace the battery, you will find the task a breeze. The manufacturer intentionally designed the battery compartment to be easy to pen, with only screws to take out. That means you won’t be stuck with a damaged battery or one whose runtime has reduced considerably.
Low Noise
According to Roidmi, the X20 has been designed to reduce noise by as much as 10%. It produces 72 dB (on the standard suction setting), which is low enough to vacuum your home without disturbing everyone else. You will not scare your pets or wake up a sleeping kid. Considering the amount of power achieved by the vacuum, the noise level is adequate.
Usability
After unboxing the X20, you only have the tube and floor head to connect (the central part comes already assembled). The vacuum charges wire-free and attaches to the charging station magnetically. LED lights will indicate the charging progress. Alternatively, you can get updates via Bluetooth and into your smartphone.

Once fully charged, the X20 allows you endless cleaning options. It comes with two brush rolls. By swapping the brushes, cleaning different floors becomes safe and effective. The brushes pop out in a second, and you won’t find it a big deal to change them. The dust cup also detaches without difficulty. You can also remove the floor nozzle and tube to remain with the upper part and use the vacuum as a handheld.
The controls are conveniently placed – on the handle and within a reachable distance. The handle itself is ergonomic and comfortable to use when vacuuming vertical surfaces from the sides. The whole unit is both compact and lightweight, a construction that makes it less tiring to use. But it’s the handheld version that offers the most versatile cleaning experience. By attaching the tools that come with the vacuum, you get to clean different parts of your home without limitations.

Two accessories great for car detailing and above-the-floor cleaning
Another feature that makes the vacuum usable is the swiveling head. It allows you to steer the X20 with the utmost ease and avoid obstacles when cleaning. With bright headlights to light up dark spots such as under beds and couches, you won’t miss hidden dirt when using this vacuum. And when the brush roll is tangled with the pet or human hair, you have the cleaning brush that also doubles up as a cutting tool to remove tangles.
The Roidmi X20 is not only easy to use but also store. You can keep it on the wall mount where it attaches magnetically or in any place that you find fit. With a compact body and a small rubber band, the vacuum can lean against a wall and be kept almost anywhere. Cleaning the dustbin after every cleaning session and changing the filter when necessary, would keep the vacuum working for a long time.
