During last couple of weeks, I think hundreds of people asked me about the differences between the latest Shark Rotator models. They are called the Powered Lift-Away series, and because there are around 15 different models, people tend to get confused. Thus I’ve spent my weekend building a chart which contains all there is to know about the following models: NV650, NV650W, NV651, NV652, NV680, NV681, NV682, NV683, NV750W, NV751, NV752, NV753, NV755, NV760 and UV795. The NV650W and the NV652 were basically upgraded to the NV750W and respectively NV752 due to some minor wand problems. Here’s the chart:

What you need to know is that all models have the same warranty of 7 years (except the NV650 from Walmart which comes with only 5 years of warranty). The warranty talk can be continued, as different wholesalers have different types of warranty contracts, not to mention the VIP warranty from Shark Clean. However, in my opinion, Amazon has the most permissive, worry-free warranty of all the distributors, so I recommend it as the best supplier. All models share the same good filtration system, comprised of a pre-motor foam filter and a post-motor HEPA filter, both combined with Shark’s Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology. All models have a 30 ft. long power cord and a cleaning path width of 12″. There are 3 types of Rotator Powered Lift-Away units: the standard upright, a light version called Speed and a bigger version called XL. The Rotator Speed is represented by the 680 models (680, 681, 682 and 683). At the moment, there are only 2 XL models: NV755 and UV795. The rest are all standard models. As you can see, the main differences are in the type of Rotator, the accessories/attachments and of course, the price.
Cheapest Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away
The cheapest standard Rotator can be purchased directly from the producer’s site, SharkClean.com (if we leave aside the cheapest Speed model). Unfortunately, although you also get a Steam Pocket mop, you will not get all the accessories. Not even the TruePet mini motorized brush nor the Hard floor Genie are included. If you want to purchase all, you’ll have to pay an additional $90, which brings you to about $355, which the among the highest prices for a Rotator.
Best deal on Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away
This one is pretty subjective. Depending on your shopping preferences and on the type of Rotator you prefer (Standard, XL or Speed), I would argue that one of the best deals from the table above is this one, for the UV795.
Most complete Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away
The most complete version is of course the NV752. You will get the Hard-Floor Genie, the TruePet tool, the Caddy, all the usual attachments (crevice tool, dusting brush and so on) and a bag for easier storage. The only thing you’ll have to buy separately is the Home and Car Detailing Tool.
Final words
These offers change a lot. You might get a nice discount with the Spring sales, or you might get an over-inflated price. I’ve listed here the best prices at the moment, which are updated dynamically. I would like to encourage you to to share your buying experience, but please be very careful with the model number, so we get things right. Also, if I’ve missed any model or accessory, please don’t hesitate to correct me.

How is the model nv750? I saw someplace that that model was discontinued. Btw, which are the newest models? Which is the best for bare floors?
Thank you!
Jason Roberts says
The NV750 was discontinued (just like the models NV650W and NV652). I should have added it to the list, but this model was in the market for just a short timeframe, unlike the other 2. All models with the HardFloor Genie or the Dust-Away Pro attachments are great for hard floors.
David says
I called shark yesterday and was told by their rep that the NV750W was not discontinued and that this is the model sold directly through them. According to the rep the NV750 is the exact same vacuum as the NV752(retailer model)

What are the differences between the Shark NV755 and UV795 other than $399.99 at Best Buy and $249.99 respectively. A huge difference in price but what makes the difference? Thank you.
Jason Roberts says
As you can see, there’s not much difference, but the prices vary a lot and the cheaper one may soon disappear.
Christy says
I just looked for the UV795 at Costco.com and it is no longer listed for sale.
Fran says
I just bought the UV795 at my Missouri Costco a few hours ago for $199.

I’m trying to decide between the NV681 and NV 752, any major differences?
Bonnie Atkinson says
I currently have the NV552 and I’m happy with it, but I do like the feature of the powered lift away. Is it worth getting the powered liftaway?
Jason Roberts says
Not really. The NV552 has a good life span, you should enjoy that, and switch to a newer unit only when needed.
Bonnie says
Thanks, appreciate the feedback
Jason Roberts says
As you can see, the NV681 is smaller and has a different motor. The NV752 is one of the most complete Lift-Aways. It depends on the size of your household and the type of flooring. If you have a big house, mostly carpeted, you should get the NV752.

I loved the performance of my 5 year old shark, but the warranty is misleading. Our hose split and the latch on the the dirt/dust catcher broke. These were considered “wear and tear” parts under the warranty. That means we have to pay to get them fixed. Both of these parts are essential to the operation of the vacuum and duct tape can only go so far! I would like another Shark, but am concerned with these things happening with a new one. Any experience with this?
Jason Roberts says
Unfortunately, the plastic parts could be better build. 7-8 years is about the average life expectancy of Shark vacuums cleaners, depending on the frequency of usage.

Would you review the shark vacuum that has everything in the bottom of it like a sweeper please? I bought one from Walmart and am wondering how it compares to the other models. Supposedly its cleans better than the uprights but I also miss having a hose to reach above the floor.
Jason Roberts says
I think you’re referring to the Rocket Powerhead, which I’ve already detailed here.

I see a lot of stores carry the 501-502 – 504 professional lift away are these old units?
Jason Roberts says
These are the old version of the Lift-Away series. The new series are called Powered Lift-Away.

I’ve been researching a replacement vacuum. I’d like to see the new Shark Navigator Powered Lift-away DLX evaluated soon! I’ve seen evidence that this model may have more suction then the rotator and that it might be better at picking up fine dust and sand. I’d love to hear what the expert thinks.
Jason Roberts says
I’ve added it on my to-do list, and will review it this summer.

I purchased this power lift-away DLX thru QVC for a fantastic price. I am a forever shark lover, I have owned my Rotator true pet lift-away (Nv750) for 2 year now and absolutely love it.. I have used the new DLX & in comparison with my Nv750 rotator true pet is that the suction seems the same, on rhe DLX the hose is a smaller width, dust cup seems touch bigger, did not care for the placement of buttons compared to the Nv750. DLX has flat foam filter & DLX Does not havehead light on the hand wands. DLX was still awsome top notch shark however I preferred the ease of buttons on the Nv750 true pet rotator lift-away. I gave the DLX to my son for his new home. He loves it. Hope it’s helps a little

You have saved me HOURS of research! I was going bonkers trying to figure out the differences between the Powered Lift Away models. Their website is not very informative. I don’t know how you figured this all out. Sharkclean.com should hire you to make their website better!! Thank you so much for this comparison chart.
Also, I don’t know if you have Kohl’s in your area but they also sell a few of these models.
Jason Roberts says
I’ll investigate this. Thanks!

THANK YOU for being much more informative than any other source available, including the support on Shark’s own website. Do you have any further insight or updates? Are there newer models we should consider for 2017?
Jason Roberts says
Shark just released the Rocket Complete DuoClean, make sure you check out my review. It’s a great lightweight vacuum cleaner, ready for all kinds of messes.

Can you tell me if you think purchasing a certified refurbished Shark Rotator is wise. (NV652, NV750 or NV752 they just send one, no choice) The savings is about $90.No attachments included. I found these on Amazon.
Thank you for great research.
Jason Roberts says
Usually, certified refurbished products are almost as good as new. Just a few scratches here and there, but if you won’t mind this, you’ll enjoy the same performance you can find in the new products.
